The M6 Pedestal Gun Mount (NSN#1005-01-411-6341) provides weapons carrying capability for the M998 General Purpose HMMWV vehicle. It is designed to be easily and quickly installed or removed, so that a unit commander can decide, based on threat, which of the following weapons to employ:
          M60 7.62mm Machine Gun
          M249 5.56mm Machine Gun
          M240 7.62mm Machine Gun
          MK 19/3 Grenade Machine Gun
          M2 .50 Caliber Machine Gun
The weapons must be installed in their respective carriage and cradle assemblies. The mount allows unrestricted movement of the weapons in train and elevation. The M6 has the moveable, locking internal column that allows the weapon to be raised or lowered to provide the operator with a better sight picture of the target. No modification to the vehicle is required for installation of the mount. The mount is manufactured from aircraft-grade aluminum and stainless steel. It is durable, effective, and an economical piece of equipment. It has been fully tested and type classified by the U.S. Army for unlimited distribution and deployment. Ramo designed the M6 Gun Mount, won a competitive procurement to provide this to the U.S. Army, and is the sole-source supplier. The M6 Gun Mount is a valuable tool to enhance the individual Soldier in protecting themselves and those around them for a very small per-unit cost to the Army.
